Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the LatLng Geocoding API ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
LatLng provides a suite of location and mapping API services, including:
- Geocoding API — Convert addresses and place names to geographic coordinates (forward geocoding)
- Reverse Geocoding API — Convert geographic coordinates to addresses
- Places Search API — Search for points of interest and places by name or category
- Map Tiles API — Serve vector map tiles (PBF) for use in MapLibre GL JS, Leaflet, and other mapping libraries
- Static Maps API — Generate static map images (PNG/JPEG) for embedding in applications, emails, and documents
- Dataset Tiles API — Upload and serve your own geospatial data (GeoJSON, Shapefile, GPX, KML, GeoPackage) as vector tiles
3. API Usage
Your use of the API is subject to the following conditions:
- You must obtain an API key to use the Service (some endpoints allow limited anonymous access)
- Secret keys (
latlng_...) must not be exposed in client-side code or shared with third parties - Public Maps keys (
pk_latlng_...) are intended for client-side use and may be restricted to specific domains - You must comply with the rate limits of your plan
- You must not use the API for any illegal purposes
- You must not attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
- Automated scraping of results to build a competing geocoding or mapping dataset is prohibited
4. One Account Per Entity Policy
Each entity is permitted only one account and one API key on the free tier. An "entity" includes, but is not limited to:
- Individuals: A single natural person, regardless of the number of email addresses or devices they possess
- Businesses: A single company, corporation, LLC, partnership, or any other business organization, including all subsidiaries, divisions, and affiliates
- Organizations: Non-profits, government agencies, educational institutions, and any other organizational entities
- Projects: Multiple accounts may not be created for different projects, applications, or services owned by the same entity
Creating multiple accounts to circumvent rate limits or obtain additional free API quotas is strictly prohibited and constitutes a violation of these Terms. Violations may result in:
- Immediate termination of all associated accounts
- Forfeiture of any remaining API credits
- Permanent ban from the Service
- Legal action to recover damages
If you require higher limits, please upgrade to a paid plan or contact us for enterprise pricing.
5. Rate Limits and Quotas
Each pricing tier has specific rate limits per service:

Exceeding these limits may result in temporary suspension of API access for the affected service. Enterprise limits are specified in a custom agreement.
6. Data and Privacy
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information on how we collect, use, and protect your data.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by LatLng and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Geographic and map data is provided under the Open Database License (ODbL) from OpenStreetMap contributors. You must include appropriate attribution ("© OpenStreetMap contributors") in any public-facing application using our map or geocoding services.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY GEOCODING, MAP, OR LOCATION RESULTS.
9. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL LATLNG BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. You may also terminate your account at any time through your dashboard.
11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
